  11. Always faithful, always forward. The Marine Corps is the nation’s expeditionary force, ready to respond to any crisis, anywhere Marines have always fought our nation’s small wars, it’s irregular wars - the wars of the future. MARSOC Marines are Marines first, and they build on their Corps legacy; MARSOC operators go forward to win the war before it starts. MARSOC’S MISSION is to recruit, train, sustain and deploy scalable, expeditionary forces worldwide to accomplish special operations missions assigned by the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). To accomplish that, MARSOC equips and trains Marines to succeed in austere conditions against a wide range of adversaries. MARSOC executes complex, distributed operations in uncertain environments, achieving silent success and strategic impact. MARSOC’S VISION is to be America’s force of choice to provide small lethal expeditionary teams for global special operations. With tight-knit teams of agile and adaptable operators, MARSOC will continue to punch well above its weight class. (from MARSOC.com)

  13. TODAY WILL BE DIFFERENT The 4th Marine Raider Battalion Realism Unit, aka 4th MRB, is a realism unit in the Arma 3 community. We simulate a fictional unit within the Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The 4th MRB is structured and organized identical to a real life MARSOC battalion, with attached supporting USSOCOM units. The 4th MRB was founded by long-serving members of a different Arma 3 realism unit which emulates another real life United States Marine Corps Unit. The 4th MRB attempts to maintain the discipline, professionalism, and esprit de corps of real US Marine special operators. The fun and excitement members of this unit enjoy is the result of the difficult and challenging operations we are asked to perform and in developing skills and unique tactics commonly practiced by special operators within the special operations community. MARSOC’s core activities are: Direct Action (DA) We conduct short strikes and small-scale offensive actions to seize, destroy, capture, recover, or inflict damage in hostile or denied areas. Special Reconnaissance (SR) We acquire information about the capabilities, intentions, and activities of an enemy. Preparation of the Environment We collect intelligence and prepare for future operations at the direction of USSOCOM. Security Force Assistance (SFA) We support the security forces of allied foreign governments to achieve operational objectives the U.S. shares. Counterterrorism (CT) We prevent, deter, and respond to terrorism. Foreign Internal Defense (FID) We provide training and other assistance to foreign governments and their militaries to enable them to provide for their national security. Counterinsurgency In concert with allied governments, we conduct military, paramilitary, political, economic, psychological, and civic action operations to defeat insurgency. Unconventional Warfare (UW) Hostage Rescue Counter-Narco Terrorism Maritime Interdiction Deep Reconnaissance Gas & Oil Platform Operations Special Clandestine Operations HISTORY OF THE MARINE RAIDERS The United States Marine Corps was founded on November 10, 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized the raising of two battalions of Marines. Recruiting for the new Continental Marines first began at Tun Tavern, Philadelphia, PA. In 1942, shortly after the United States entered World War II, the United States Marine Corps created two elite battalions of special warriors, called the Marine Raiders. The Marine Raiders were specially train for operations behind enemy lines, high stake island raids and amphibious operations. They were the first special operations forces for the United States. The Marine Raiders were disbanded in 1944 when the Marine Corps needed more men to fill out the ranks of the six Marine combat divisions needed for the final push against the Japanese empire. In 1986, the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) was created. The Marine Corps did not initially provide Marines to participate in SOCOM. In June 2003 The Marine Corps formed the Marine Corps Special Operations Command Detachment One, commonly known as DetOne. DetOne deployed with a Naval Special Warfare Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. In October 2005, the Secretary of Defense directed a formation of MARSOC Marines serve with the Special Operations Forces. The MARSOC Marines officially activated with SOCOM in February 2006. In June 2015, a brief but formal ceremony was held at the Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command to formally rename MARSOC Marines, as MARINE RAIDERS, in honor of the legendary Marine Raiders of World War II. The reactivation of the legendary Marine Raider name provides MARSOC Marine Special Operators with the same type of name recognition SEALs and Rangers enjoy. It is only fitting the name of this country’s original special operation forces was brought back into service.
