4th Marine Raider Battalion is currently deactivated until Arma 4.


Current assignment availability as of 06AUG23 as follows:

4th Marine Raider Battalion

  • Critical Skills Operator (CSO) - CLOSED
  • Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsmen (SARC) - CLOSED

4th Marine Raider Support Battalion

  • Special Operations Capabilities Specialist (SOCS) - CLOSED
  • Special Operations Combat Service Specialists (SOCSS) - CLOSED

160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment

  • Rotary Wing Aviator - CLOSED

The 4th Marine Raider Battalion (MRB) is organized using the basic structure of real life Marine Raider Battalions.

The 4th MRB has stood up one Special Operations Company (MSOC); Mike Company “M”.

 

Marine Raider Battalion (MRB)

Consists of Battalion Headquarters and four (4) Marine Special Operation Companies

Marine Special Operations Company (MSOC)

Consists of a Company Headquarters and four (4) Marine Special Operations Teams (MSOTs)

Marine Special Operations Team (MSOT)

Consists of Team Headquarters - one each of Team Leader, Team Chief, Operations Chief, Comms Chief, and two (2) Tactical Elements; Element 1, and Element 2.

Tactical Elements

Tactical Teams consist of Element Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader, two (2) Critical Skills Operators, and Navy SARC.

The organizational structure allows a team to operate on its own if needed but maintains the ability to operate as part of a larger unit such as a MSOC.

 

The core fighting battalion (MRB) is supported by:

 

Marine Raider Support Battalion (MRSB)

Special Operations Capability Specialist (SOCS). Support MRB operations with explosive ordnance disposal technicians, communication specialists, fire control specialists, dog handlers, intelligence analysts.

Special Operations Combat Service Specialist (SOCSS). Support MRB with logistics and transportation.

The Marine Raider Support Battalion (MRSB) elements will be stood up as needed.

 

The 4th MRB aviation support is provided by:

 

5th Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (5/160)

The 160th provides rotary wing support for transportation, reconnaissance, and fire support.

27th Special Operations Group, 27th Special Operations Wing

The 27th provides tilt-rotor and fixed wing support for transportation and reconnaissance.

Note: While the organizational structure of the 4th MRB mirrors, in part, the actual structure of the Marine Raider Battalions, the 4th MRB and the 5/160th do not exist in real life.

 

 

CRITICAL SKILLS OPERATOR

Critical Skills Operators (CSOs) and Special Operations Officers (SOOs) are assigned to billets at the team, company, and battalion levels. Enlisted Marines are designated CSOs and awarded the 0372 Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) while officers are awarded the Additional Military Occupational Skill (AMOS) of 0370.

SPECIAL AMPHIBIOUS RECONNAISSANCE CORPSMAN

MARSOC’s high operational tempo demands exceptionally trained and dedicated medical staff. The Navy corpsmen and medical professionals attached to MARSOC have been selected for their expertise and ability to maintain a healthy and fit special operations force. Each Marine Special Operations Company includes several Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsmen (SARCs) specially trained in combat diving, basic airborne, and amphibious reconnaissance.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS CAPABILITIES SPECIALIST

Special Operations Capabilities Specialists (SOCS) are Combat Support Marines that are able to join MARSOC based upon their MOS skill and receive advanced special operations forces training and certification. SOCSs are operational and tactical force multipliers and frequently deploy alongside CSOs. SOCS billet fields include Intelligence, Communications, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Dog Handlers, and Fire-Control Specialists. SOCSs are awarded the AMOS of 8071.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMBAT SERVICE SPECIALIST

Special Operations Combat Service Specialists (SOCSS) are Combat Service Support Marines who serve with MARSOC in their primary MOS, such as Motor Transport or Logistics. Their training includes core skills for joint and interagency work as well as enhanced SOF combat skills training to enable their successful integration and survivability in special operations environments.
