As we wind down the FTX cycle and gear up for deploying to Africa, I thought a little something to get you in the mood in order. Operation Gothic Serpent and it's key event the Battle of Mogadishu (on which Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down is based) would seem some obvious content, not least of which due to the 160th SOAR angle. But BHD is nothing new to anyone. So I thought I'd give you something a little different. The Battle of Mirbat took place in July 1972, on the edge of the Arabian Gulf in Oman, between 9 SAS soldiers, and several hundred communist insurgents. It's was a battle, and a war, which until reasonably recently "didn't happen" according to official history. Admittedly it's bordered on the Gulf, and hence not strictly speaking Africa, but I sense it'll give you the right feel.
